I have been compositing video Adobe After Effects
professionally, off and on since 1995.
In 2004, I alsostarted using Combustion and have been very pleased with its
chroma-keying functionality, the ease of quickly creating dirty-mattes
that track and remove problem areas, as well as its integration with 3D
Studio Max.
I am familiar with the common problems dealing with compositing
and how to minimize these, both from a production lighting perspective,
as well as a post-production, in-computer perspective.
This is the area I am probably most excited about. It
allows almost all of my skills (Editing, Photoshop/Graphic Design,
Motion Graphic, Audio/Video Production, 2D/3D Production, etc.) to all
come together.
I am comfortable working onsite using supplied equipment or freelancing from my home studio,
working on a Mac or a PC.

In this project I was sub-contracted by an associate of mine, to work for the John Bernardoni Production Group on creating an eye-catching method of showing
video clips from such artists as: The Brian Setzer Orchestra, Ellen DeGeneres, Jerry Seinfeld, Kool and the Gang, Madona, Prince, Willie Nelson, etc.
I created a "Video Cube" in After Effects by positioning and linking 3D video layers to form the sides of the cube and then assigning various clips to each layer.
I also created audio fades, animations and dissolves in time with the sequences. Finally I outputted and compressed out the video to a Flash Video file.
I created a later version that had alpha channel transparency to float over the colors of the Bernardoni site.

I produced the video (and the 3D animated buttons) for this Demo Web Site (work in progress) for CARELeaders.com.
For the production, I did the casting, the lighting, the audio & video production, the editing, compositing (in After Effects), and the final compression and coding in Flash Video.

"Dark History - Golden Wings"
(a personal project I am doing as time/money is available) is a
21-minute independently produced short in which I am doing all the
composting and visual effects (as well as having written, cast,
directed, lit, shot, etc.)
Note: This project was delayed due to a back injury and other personal issues, but it will hopefully be resumed soon ...
Update: I am using the previously generated stills to form a Graphic Novel/Manga.
This short will be produced using a variety of techniques.
Chroma-Keying ("Green-Screening") live action footage of actors and
actresses as well as 3D props that have been run through an
automated process to achieve a stylized "Rotoscoped" Non-Photo
Realistic (NPR) look.

As part of a test, one morning I created a 3D playing card that I then composited into some temporary footage of a playing card being tossed through the air (that we were later going to replicate).
I created the shape of the card in Adobe Illustrator, (with the required graphics) then brought the file into 3D Studio Max and extruded the shape.
I sampled areas of color, shading and noise from the footage and used this to "dirty" up the 3D card, making the card fit more realistically into the scene.
I also matched the lighting sources in the 3D scene with the source footage.
Finally I animated the card flipping through the air and landing.

Worked on the , "Health Risks" - Interactive Environmental Science video series on CD ROMs (funded by the National Science Foundation). I composited green-screened actors in front of backgrounds shot on MiniDV and compressed the video for cross-platform playback on low-end computers.
