I have been editing since 1993 and
professionally since 1995 and consider editing to be one of my strongest
skills. I have a talent for drawing connections between audio/visual
elements. Many of the clients I have worked with have been
pleasantly surprised by my ability to get the most out of the footage and
help further their story. I am adept at working around problem areas
and have a good sense of pacing.
I have used a variety of
non-linear editing (NLE) software and learn new NLE software tools
rapidly. Some of the NLE software I have used includes:
Final Cut Pro, Media100, Avid Media Composer and
Premiere.
I have worked with digital video in a variety of formats
from MiniDV and DVCAM to high resolution uncompressed video as well as
editing 16mm film.
I am comfortable working onsite using supplied equipment or freelancing from my home studio,
working on a Mac or a PC.

At HCC/TMIT I edited (using Final Cut
Pro) various interview footage of healthcare leaders working
towards improving the safety of healthcare, along with various 2D
& 3D graphics and animation. I performed both
offline and online editing and output the clips in a variety of
formats.
I captured footage off BETACAM, DVCAM, Mini-DV and
various other sources. When offline editing, I would capture in low
resolution, highly-compressed clips, then edited them together into
an offline edit. I, or someone else would then batch
digitize all the footage at final resolution, adding the appropriate
titles, etc. Sometimes I would output time code burned
clips for review and/or editing at our remote (CA)
facility.
Since the owner was in a remote location, sometimes
we would exchange the offline MP4 encoded clips, with a time code
burn, along with Final Cut project files through our Internet
connection. On occasion we even initiated remote
audio/video capture using the remote software
Timbuktu.
Lastly, I would output final clips for the Web, DVDs, or VOB files used in our Macromedia Director
presentations. Between the 3 websites, there are over
540 video clips (half of those are password protected).
There are over 670 VOB video files embeded in various
HCC Director presentations.

I was the editor for the low-budget
documentary short "Low
Light" - about the making of the 54 Seconds song,
"Blown Away", which made it into the 2003 SXSW Film festival
(to be one of 150 films shown out of the more than 2,300
submitted). The "Lowlight" short, was culled down from 50
hours of footage to a 19 or 20 minute rough cut, then trimmed down
less than 8 minutes. The majority of the recording
sessions were not captured on tape. As a result, the
footage sessions in the short were actually recording sessions for
diferent songs that I synced-up to the music in the
documentary. Greg Rhem, original programming manager for HBO
and panelist for the Distributing Docs panel at SxSW 2003, had
favorable comments regarding the editing of "Low Light".
The documentary can be found on the enhanced CD "Coma"
from the band "54 Seconds".

which played in multiple festivals, including the Ladyfest Film
Showcase, Burbank's Method Fest and the Mercury Short Film Festival
where it won a honorable mention. IMDb Reference

Working for the UT Department of
Curriculum & Instruction - Systemic Research Collaborative for
Education in Math & Technology (SYRCE) I edited video for a project
commissioned by a three million dollar grant from the National
Science Foundation. I edited on a Media100 non-linear
editing system that I researched & purchased. I
also started experimenting with Final Cut.
